Privacy notice
Last updated 14 October 2026
This notice explains what personal information Nuce collects through this website, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. It covers the contributor application form and the waitlist sign-up on our homepage. It does not cover the Nuce iOS app, which has its own notice.
Who we are
Nuce is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at info@getnuce.com for anything in this notice.
What we collect
If you join the waitlist, we collect your name and email address.
If you apply to be a contributor, we collect:
- your name, email address and job title or role;
- your institution, outlet, platforms or elected office, depending on which tier you apply under;
- links you give us — staff pages, published work, social profiles, ORCID, press card number;
- the sections and topics you select, and the short bio and summary you write;
- a link to a video or photo, if you choose to share one;
- which outreach link brought you to the page, so we know what's working.
We ask only for what we need to assess an application. We do not ask for your political opinions, and you should not include special category information — such as health, religion or political affiliation — in free-text boxes.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use this information to review your application, to contact you about it, and to set up your contributor profile if you're approved.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — assessing applications from people who have asked to contribute, and running the service. You gave us the information knowingly for that purpose, and you can object at any time.
Where you tick the box to appear on our public founding contributors wall, our lawful basis for publishing your name, role, institution and photo is your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us, and we'll remove you.
Where it goes
Both forms submit to Google Forms, and the responses are stored in Google Sheets within our Google Workspace account. Google acts as our processor. Google may store or process data outside the UK; it provides safeguards for those transfers under its data processing terms.
This website is hosted by Netlify, which processes standard server request information.
If you email us a video or photo, that sits in our email account until we've used it.
Who can see it
Only the Nuce team. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
The only information that becomes public is what you have explicitly approved: if you opt in to the founding contributors wall, and later if you're approved and your contributor profile goes live.
How long we keep it
- Unsuccessful applications: deleted after 12 months.
- Successful applications: kept while you're a contributor, and for 12 months afterwards.
- Waitlist entries: kept until launch, then deleted if you don't sign up.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to our using it. You can also ask us to stop emailing you at any time.
To do any of these, email info@getnuce.com. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies. The contributor form saves your answers in your own browser's local storage so you don't lose them if you refresh; that stays on your device and is cleared when you submit.
Changes
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
